During the Russo-Japanese war, bolt-action rifles were the main guns used on both sides. The Arisaka was used by the Japanese and the Mosin-Nagant was used by the Russians. Other weapons used by the Russians were mines, and the Maxim machine gun. The Japanese on the other hand used the the Hotchkiss machine gun and the nambu pistol. While the Nambu was a poorly created pistol and had no big vantage points; the Arisaka made up for it. The Nambu was said to be one of the worst pistol because of its weakness and it had an open ear; which means by touching the side of the gun the pistol could possibly go off while in the holdster.
The Russians Mosin-Nagant used a 7.62mm bullet with a good amount of accuracy and a lot of power. The Mosin-Nagant was used from the 1890’s to the 1960’s. It was most popular because of the reliability and the price of the gun.
